Shayna (they/she) is a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) working under the supervision of Shawn V. Giammattei, PhD. Shayna meets individuals exactly where they are to build a foundation of trust and safety. They enjoy working with clients of all ages, creatively matching the energy of youth, supportively holding space for sometimes complex interactions between families, as well as navigating a multitude of different partnership networks.
Grounded in social justice and trauma-informed perspectives from the Counseling Psychology MA program at USF, Shayna excels at contextualizing the systemic big picture of a client’s life. Her therapeutic toolkit includes relational connection building, play-based interactions, art expression, DBT, systems-based frameworks, narrative work and more.
Shayna is passionate about working with the neurodivergent and LGBTQIA2+ communities. Their work is inspired by lived experience as an advocate, educator, queer & gender creative parent and partner navigating a uniquely neurodiverse household. This personal insight fuels Shayna’s dedication to walking alongside clients on their journey to authentic joy. Shayna offers valuable lived insight to families navigating complex school system dynamics and relationships that may not fit a standard mold. There’s no perfect answer, but Shayna is always willing to explore the many ways we show up as humans and how to make meaning in our lives from these unique experiences.
